- Sorry, no inspection of history--only a reassertion of position--can
- substantiate a claim that the system is unresponsive to demonstrations of
- its flaws. It is in fact precisely this characteristic which distinguishes
- the existing system in this country from Utopian systems proposed or
- attempted. That the examples you see are only from the far right or far
- left or are used by politicians to get votes is, aside from your characteriza-
- tion of sources (you could drop "far" in the sake of accuracy and "right" and
- "left" for the sake of clarity. If you believe that studies are forgotten
- right after election, where do they go when forgotten? What is the device?
- Soviet society attempted to create memory holes by denying access to archives
- or ordering people to cut pages out of books they already had. If it could
- have worked at all, it would have required more total control than is possible
- with the current flow of ideas and information (in which you, Zahir, are
- participating) and more complicity from more people. The system responds.
- You continue to observe that its responses are not perfect and concede that it
- does sometimes work but that doesn't matter. That line leads, as others have
- tried to help you see, nowhere. Good luck in formulating an approach with
- which you are happier, but don't forget to check with the imperfect rest of us.
