- Do the Americans on this list think of judges holding their positions
- because of greater wisdom? Do they see judges as dispensing 'wisdom'?

- I ask this because the attitude in Canada is not that judges are wiser but
- that they are something akin to statute-mechanics. They know all the rules
- because that is their specialty but this knowledge does not confer any
- special wisdom on them.
