  19. Do the Americans on this list think of judges holding their positions
  20. because of greater wisdom? Do they see judges as dispensing 'wisdom'?

  22. I ask this because the attitude in Canada is not that judges are wiser but
  23. that they are something akin to statute-mechanics. They know all the rules
  24. because that is their specialty but this knowledge does not confer any
  25. special wisdom on them.
