- Jon,
-
- I have a bachelor's in Psych and a Masters in Counseling and have
- worked all my life on university campuses except for brief stints as
- a case worker, a fraud investigator and various waiter/busboy sorts of
- positions while going to school.
-
- I do admire your positions and do wish you were right...that we do have
- a democracy (which is not too bad an idea) and that our media is fair and
- accurate (I mean our major media)....I just do not agree with you....
-
- As far as studying history, how much I know etc. etc.... I do have
- similiar discussions and argumenst with friends of mine in the
- communicatuions and pol science depts. and so on... and it goes on...
-
- I do think we had a democracy and the struggles between our
- idealogical positions and others.... I think competition and big business
- finally caught up with democracy and our systems... Big business grew bigger,
- the world grew smaller and more interdependent and the various systems, be
- it our own government or those of others have become in conflict with
- big businesses that are becoming bigger.... So now, I think, there is
- a substantial control of the media by big business and by politicians
- who are leaders because they were funded by interest groups whose interest
- is not America but those who it serves..... I think that it is no longer
- possible for any leader to emerge if his ideas and thinking are a threat
- to capitalism .... not just in the U.S. but to our south and in most
- parts of the world.....
-
- Our biggest enemy has surrendered and the size of our peace dividend is
- a joke.... Watch Bill Clinton fail in that area as well as in the one
- payer national health insurance he touted.... Gun control and health
- are areas that would have been different if we had a democracy....
