- Is ther any NT beta (october) user that has encountered the error
- "cannot find NTLDR". I have be having the problem for the last few days.
- What are the most important files in the root of the C drive that I could
- have over wrote when I restored my old HD.
-
- Oh ya. I am running NT on a shared DOS partition. The machine has
- more than enough memory and disk space.
-
- I FTP'd a boot workaround disk and now I can get into NT and DOS from
- floppies, but when I try to run most of the WIN16 programs it give me an
- error about my AUTOEXEC.BAT. Does any only have any suggestion?
-
- The file NTLDR is the boot file for Windows NT. You probably have
- installed with the "dual boot" option, so when you boot, a small
- program prompts you whether to jump to the NT or DOS boot file. You
- seem to have deleted the NT boot file. I would try to reinstall NT on
- your disk.
-
- I would think that even if you have deleted NTLDR you would be able
- boot DOS using the dual boot loader. The Win16 programs are probably
- looking for AUTOEXEC.BAT on the boot floppy. You might try copying
- the one from your hard disk to the boot floppy (after backing
- everything up).
-
- P.S. How long before the next BETA?
-
- I don't know. Does anyone else?
