  13. First off, many thanks to everyone who responded to my first posting,
  14. regarding which version of Dirmaint was best to install. Given the
  15. abundant & eloquent praise, I opted for 1.4.
  16.  
  17. Now, the installation and customization went fine & dandy, but the thing
  18. is now refusing to do the real work. Having followed the instructions,
  19. I set it up with a dummy directory, on some other volume apart from where
  20. the real thing is located, occupying the same space as the real one. I
  21. then formatted and allocated as DRCT that area. Firing up Dirmaint,
  22. it went thru its paces of setting things up and went into "Waiting..." mode.

  24. All commands which do not entail changes in the directory work just fine.
  25. However, when I try to ADD or do anything which updates the directory, the
  26. command bombs with an error from DIRECT. The following diagnostic gets
  27. sent:

  51. As instructed, the 1CA minidisk is the same size as the DRCT space on the
  52. BC4 full-pack volume, where the working object directory is installed.

  54. Where am I goofing up ? I've installed the thing on a 9377 and a 9373 and
  55. get the exact same error on both, so I suspect this is an error on my part.
  56. According to the documentation I received, it includes the DASD management
  57. enhancement APARS, which include support for 9335 and 9332 DASDs.

  63. P.S. The installation on the 9373 is OPERATIONAL, so the error wasn't due
  64.      to a TESTING status.
