  12. Another approach to handling printing and print accounting in general is
  13. to create a print server in conjunction with the form of the CP START
  14. which dedicates the printer to files produced by that userid (to prevent
  15. interference).  We use that approach to have our way with printing,
  16. including generating a tailored banner page and eliminating the trailer
  17. page, in feeding a Xerox 4050.  All without fuss or CP mods.  The server
  18. virtual machine does the conceptual equivalent of a REPRINT operation,
  19. and in examining CCWs could surely be used to count pages, write to CMS
  20. files, or whatever you want.  Such a virtual machine takes minimal CPU
  21. and allows great flexibility.  I recommend that approach to any site
  22. which needs tailored printing, as it's simple and powerful.  Take
  23. advantage of the *SPL interface, and you really have something.
