- Conde Nast Traveler in a recent issue recommended the Ansley Inn,
- 253 15th St, Atlanta, GA 30309. I think this should put it close
- to the High Museum of Art and Woodruff Arts Center (Atlanta
- Symphony, etc).Phone 404-872-9000. Conde Nast quoted a rate of $79.
-
- Two other B&B types I know about:
-
- Shellmont Bed & Breakfast Lodge, 821 Piedmont Ave NE, Atlanta 30308
- 404-872-9290. In Midtown.
-
- Beverly Hills Inn, 65 Sheridan Dr, NE Atlanta 30305 404-233-8520.
- In Buckhead, north of downtown Atlanta.
-
- You should be able to drive into downtown Atlanta in about 10-15 min
- assuming normal non-rush hour traffic.
-
- Bed & Breakfast Atlanta, Professional Reservation Service,
- 1801 Piedmont Ave NE 404-875-0525.
-
- This is the city's B&B service if you want to try something other
- than these 3.
-
- Don't know anything about the Braves schedule, sorry.
-
- Plenty of restaurants in the Buckhead area; the Dining Room at
- the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead (NOT the R-C downtown and NOT the
- cafe in the R-C B) is 4 star. Buckhead has two large,
- established shopping centers (Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza)
- with the likes of Neiman Marcus and Tiffany's, along with more
- pedestrian stores.
-
- Little Five Points in Midtown and the Virginia-Highlands area--
- Highland Ave is one of the streets that goes through Little
- Five Points and drops you right smack dab at the Carter Center.
- If you go the opposite direction on Highland you end up at
- Piedmont Park. Stop at Manuel's Tavern if you get a chance (on
- Highland, right off Ponce de Leon Ave). Jimmy Carter and other
- political types love it and are often seen there. Manuel Maloof,
- former Chair of the Fulton Co. Commission, owns it.
-
- The Fox Theatre, which is nearby all the above, is acoustically
- fantastic, architecturally wonderful, and has shows year round.
- Check it out.
-
- The weather should be pleasant in May, and sometimes there will
- be art festivals, etc. going on. Check the Saturday Atlanta
- Journal Constitution for their Weekend Guide which will get you
- in the know VERY FAST.
-
- Have a nice trip,
