- Subject: Summary of ICB t-con
- Lines: 58
-
- The following summary is from the post-phone t-con held on ICB on Sunday,
- 24 January 1993. The t-con was held on ICB because the SEDS Haven at
- hoshi.colorado.edu was down at the time of the t-con.
-
- Present: Irwin, Jeff, Drew, Bill, Kevin, Alvin, John [ever so briefly]
-
- Some initial discussion of the role the MIT HQ would play (if any) with a
- SEDS Mom - nothing conclusive resolved.
-
- Discussion of trying to combine the "SEDS Mom"/Embry-Riddle proposal with the
- Spaceport Florida Authority (SFA) proposal and trying to get the best of both.
- Drew suggests April 12th as the official opening day for the new office and
- SEDS Mom.
-
- Questions about finances: How much of SEDS-USA's financial issues does the
- SEDS Mom handle and how much do students handle. The general consensus is
- that the financial issues (writing checks, keeping budgets and treasury
- records, etc.) should be in the hands of students, and this board person
- or persons should be in frequent contact with the SEDS Mom. It was also
- generally agreed that if at all possible the treasurer position on the board
- should be permitted to float from one school to another. The SEDS Mom could
- act as a go-between between the treasurer and the bank. Drew says he will
- ask Amy to look into some banks in the area with agreeable policies regarding
- changing signatories on the checks.
-
- Board Liasion to SEDS Mom: Strong agreement that there needs to be a board
- member to act as a liasion between the rest of the board and the SEDS Mom.
- Most agree that a geographic requirement for the position (i.e., someone
- near the location of the SEDS Mom) is not necessary if the SEDS Mom has e-mail
- access. It's agreed that Amy should act as the initial liasion.
-
- Leadership Revisions to SEDS-USA: With the SEDS Mom, in place, some revisions
- of the current leadership structure may be necessary, although those attending
- the t-con think it's an issue best discussed after the SEDS-Mom proposal
- is resolved.
-
- Next T-Con: Sunday 31 January 1993, 12 noon PST (3pm EST). We will discuss the
- SEDS Mom proposal and the current plan is to have the board vote on the
- proposal. Hopefully Marylin Sheddan will be able to be present (if we can
- arrange access) so the board can discuss issues with her. We will meet on
- SEDS Haven, unless it is not operational, in which case we'll go over to ICB,
- as was the case with this t-con. All members of the board: please make an
- effort to attend -- this proposal is important to the future of SEDS-USA!
-
- [Note on the official proposal: As I understand it, Peter will post a
- copy of his "SEDS Administrator: Position Description and Terms of
- Employment" document. When it's posted, I'll post an "official" proposal
- for people to comment upon and suggest changes (although people are
- certainly free to make such comments now). If the document doesn't appear
- in the next day or two, I'll enter it in myself (I want to save time spent
- typing if at all possible... :) ]
-
- As in the last summary, if people notice any discrepencies, errors, or
- omissions in the above summary, please post them. Thanks!
-
- Ad astra,
-
- Jeff
