- Betraying my age, Allen Ginsberg (the legendary beatnik
- poet) had a bibliography on the CIA and the drug trade in
- THE LAST WHOLE EARTH CATALOG, sadly dated now but useful for
- background.
-
- More recent, but still dated, is my favorite, THE
- CRIMES OF PATRIOTS by Jonathan Kwitny published in hardback
- by W.W. Nortan and in Paper by Simon & Schuster Touchstone,
- 1987 for the former and 1988 for the latter. It carrys
- the sub-title A TRUE TALE OF DOPE, DIRTY MONEY, AND
- THE CIA. Includes good stuff on Australia (being the
- story of Nugan Hand Bank there) and the Philippines
- as well as more familiar stories like Thailand. Excellent
- and scarey for drawing together a lot of apparently
- disparate elements and events (such as Brunei Contra
- payment).
