  24.         Betraying my age, Allen Ginsberg (the legendary beatnik
  25. poet) had a bibliography on the CIA and the drug trade in
  26. THE LAST WHOLE EARTH CATALOG, sadly dated now but useful for
  27. background.

  29.         More recent, but still dated, is my favorite, THE
  30. CRIMES OF PATRIOTS by Jonathan Kwitny published in hardback
  31. by W.W. Nortan and in Paper by Simon & Schuster Touchstone,
  32. 1987 for the former and 1988 for the latter.  It carrys
  33. the sub-title A TRUE TALE OF DOPE, DIRTY MONEY, AND
  34. THE CIA.  Includes good stuff on Australia (being the
  35. story of Nugan Hand Bank there) and the Philippines
  36. as well as more familiar stories like Thailand.  Excellent
  37. and scarey for drawing together a lot of apparently
  38. disparate elements and events (such as Brunei Contra
  39. payment).
