Northwestern has responded to this issue by running two gophers, one "closed",
called NUInfo, the other "open", which is the gateway to the world's
gopherspace.  The NUInfo gopher will, we anticipate, point to other gopher
servers on campus which are similarly "closed", or at least limited.  The
concern about opac/gopher access has been strong here.  At present we have
separate terminals (not what I'd recommend), but that's partly a function of
having separate SNA and ethernet networks around here.  A library gopher
server still in development here points to the Michigan State gopher for
electronic journals.  What I think is a real interesting gopher to look at,
which has both library and computing center involvement, is INFOSlug at the
Univ. of Calif, Santa Cruz... very well organized.
