- Subject: NET3270 ALA display woes
- Lines: 26
-
- We are using NET3270 to connect most of our staff and public PC's to
- NOTIS. Recently we discovered that the public OPAC devices are
- not displaying the ALA character set, despite the fact that
- the NET3270 software, TCT, etc. are all configured to support
- ALA display. We have no problem with ALA display on the staff
- devices that are configured in exactly the same way.
-
- The major difference between the staff and public devices is that
- the public OPAC devices are going through software called VTAM
- Switch (McKinney).
-
- Some of the computing center's technical staff suspect that it
- is the VTAM Switch software that is refusing to handle the ALA
- characters correctly.
-
- Do any of you have experience or suggestions in this area?
-
- Thanks.
