  13.      I think my system crashed in the middle of my last message, so
  14. I'll try again.

  16.      THIS MESSAGE IS BEING CROSS-POSTED TO MEDLIB-L AND AUTOCAT:

  18.      At the University of Pittsburgh, we are planning to load the NLM
  19. MeSH vocabulary tape into our local automated system (NOTIS).  Our
  20. current plan is to load the entire file, including qualifiers,
  21. descriptors, and descriptors/qualifiers.  Our thinking is that we can
  22. best make use of the file and NOTIS error detection reports and
  23. new headings lists if we have the entire file loaded.  Also, having
  24. the entire file accessible to catalogers should make assigning MeSH
  25. more efficient.  We would be interested in hearing from any libraries
  26. that have loaded the MeSH vocabulary records or are contemplating loading
  27. them, to share thoughts on loading all records versus selected records,
  28. or any other concerns.  Please respond directly to me and I will
  29. summarize for the list if there is interest.
