- THIS MESSAGE IS BEING CROSS-POSTED TO MEDLIB-L AND AUTOCAT:
-
- At the University of Pittsburgh, we are planning to load the NLM
- MeSH vocabulary tape into our local automated system (NOTIS). Our
- current plan is to load the entire file, including qualifiers,
- descriptors, and descriptors/qualifiers. Our thinking is that we can
- best make use of the file and NOTIS error detection reports and
- new headings lists if we have the entire file loaded. Also, having
- the entire file accessible to catalogers should make assigning MeSH
- more efficient. We would be interested in hearing from any libraries
- that have loaded the MeSH vocabulary records or are contemplating loading
- them, to share thoughts on loading all records versus selected records,
- or any other concerns. Please respond directly to me and I will
- summarize for the list if there is interest.
-
- Thanks.
