  15. I use to count check-out slips for journals, until we automated.  Then
  16. the automated circulation statistics would send me a daily count.

  18. Also, I would have the student assistants collected journals that were
  19. used in the library (but not checked out).  These were counted and
  20. added to the statistics to reflect a more accurate usage count.

  22. Items were counted by journal title, not issue or year.  This
  23. unfortunately has been used to help decide journal cuts, when out
  24. budget were slashed. :(
