  12. David Morse, who does our collection development, is on sabbatical, so I'm
  13. responding for him.  He used the "dropped thread" method and wrote it up with
  14. great humor for our local medical library chapter newsletter.  Pieces of
  15. thread were laid on top of bound volumes.  If they disappeared, the volume
  16. had been used.  David specified the thread carefully - not too light to blow
  17. off, but not too heavy to be noticed, etc.
