- Thanks to everyone who (publicly or privately) sent congratulations
- on the birth of Quincy Rose. I printed the first round and took them
- to Amy in the hospital. In the surreal quiet and near isolation
- following the ordeal of birth, your kind wishes were welcome and
- reassuring. It's not a little magical that so many people we've never
- seen before took the time to give their regards.
-
- It occurs to me that one reason some of us post such announcements,
- (in addition to the wish to share a little joy in this stress-drenched
- world, and in addition to wanting to bask in a moment of fame), is
- to create a prearranged excuse should our voices wobble, our attention
- wander, or our thoughts begin to leak coherence for the next few weeks.
- Experienced parents will nod sagely and say to themselves: Yep,
- Crump is somnambulate.
-
- Sleep deprivation aside, we're enjoying Quincy immensely.
