- Robert Penn Warren was the first laureate. (Why isn't there
- a stamp for him?) Richard Wilbur was the second, followed
- by Mark Strand, then Joseph Brodsky. I'm unsure, however,
- of the latest. The original position was called Consultant
- to the Library of Congress. Such people as Archibald
- MacCleish (spelling?), Frost, Tate, and Stevens held this
- position.
