  30. Drexel University's College of Information Studies seeks applicants for a full-
  31. time tenure-track position in the broad area of the organization of knowledge.
  32. It is anticipated that the position will be filled at the assistant or
  33. associate level by a person with an appropriate earned or nearly earned PhD.
  34. The candidate will have responsibility for teaching, research and development
  35. in some combination of the following areas:
  36.        * classification theory and knowledge representation
  37.        * subject access systems design
  38.        * organization of information for access and retrieval
  39.        * bibliographic cataloging and classification
  40.        * cognitive aspects of information-seeking behavior
  41.        * text analysis for information retrieval
  42.  
  43. The College, which offers a BS and MS in information systems, an ALA-accredited
  44. MS in library and information science, and a PhD, recognizes the pivotal role
  45. that information plays in society.  Our view of information is broad, multi-
  46. disciplinary, and practical, and we are committed to reinventing education for
  47. information professionals. The successful candidate will participate in all
  48. teaching programs and will be expected to lead research and development
  49. activities in these domains. He or she will be responsible for oversight and
  50. some teaching of graduate courses in the organization of knowledge.

  65. POST-DOCTORAL POSITION AVAILABLE

  68. Post-doctoral Research Associate to assist full time in the study
  69. of the social and educational impact of computer networking in a
  70. large urban school district.  The position requires a broad range
  71. of methodological skills, including knowledge of questionnaire
  72. design, interviewing techniques, and case study techniques. A strong
  73. background in social psychology, sociology, policy studies, or
  74. evaluation research with an emphasis on educational issues is desirable,
  75. as is experience in working in schools or other complex organizations.
  76. Writing skills are essential as are initiative, independence, and
  77. the ability to work harmoniously with others. This two-year position
  78. is available immediately, pending finalization of contract negotiations
  79. with the funding agency, NSF. Recruiting will continue until a suitable
  80. candidate has been found. The stipend is $25,000 per year.  Interested
