- Hi all
-
- I've been reading this "thread" with great interest. I've been on
- the Internet about a year, with middle to great success. It takes
- time. Everyone should be tolerent of the of fact that time is something
- that librarians are often short of. I have found that a half hour,
- morning or night is the best solution. If you can get away from things,
- that's great, but often you have to use the resources at hand and that
- can be right in the line of fire. Don't set yourself up for a failure,
- do it in small steps. We don't expect our students to learn the library
- in one short visit, why should we expect to use the Internet in a single
- session?
-
- I recommend that people get a copy of "The Whole Internet" by Ed Krol.
- It has the tips, resources, glossary, etc. that people are asking for.
- I have a copy sitting next to me, right now. He writes in a friendly
- fashion and manages to keep the "techno-speak" to a minimum. Give it
- a try, it might help some of the "newbies" get over that fear, loathing,
- etc. that we are hearing so much about.
