  16. One of our students is in need of some information on the coaching career
  17. of Fritz Pollard, the first black All-American at a major US university
  18. (Brown) and a star in the early National Football League.  Our information
  19. is that he coached a professional team in Hammond, IN around 1923-1925.
  20. Does anybody out there have any particulars about his career?  Was he, in
  21. fact, the first black professional football coach?
  22. Most of the information we have been able to find in standard sources
  23. deal with his playing career at Brown and the NFL, and also mention
  24. that he was involved in the motion picture industry during World War II.
  25. Any other information would be appreciated.
