- The power up program is a farce? Excuse me? A drop of over $1500 bucks is
- a farce? Guys... uh, guys? Are you sure you haven't changed all of your
- names to Marc Barrett? We are living on the same planet aren't we? You
- know, the one where a 1/3 price reduction is considered significant?
-
- Seraiously, what do you want? Commodore doesn't have any power over what
- a dealer sells his computers for. That's what "Manufacturer's Suggested
- Retail Price" means. THAT has dropped considerably. C= dealers are independant
- entities. They aren't corporate extensions like Radio Shack or Sears salesmen,
- who can't dicker on price at all (I know, unfortunately I used to sell
- Radio Shack stuff... bleah :-} ).
-
- I'm not trying to start yet another pointless argument. I'm not attacking
- anybody, but I just can't help noticing that in these newsgroups there's
- an unfortunate tendancy to just shout before finding out the facts. We ignore
- reality and just bash Commodore no matter what they do. If they drop
- their prices it's "a farce." If they come out with new technology it's
- either not good enough, "leaving the users behind," "forcing us to upgrade"
- or some such nonsense. If they get rid of an old machine they are "abandoning
- the users." No matter what they DO it's wrong. It is getting just a bit
- irritating. I just thought somebody should say that.
