- Yes, and as I pointed out the battle has been known as the Battle of
- Hastings for most of subsequent history. But it didn't happen
- AT Hastings. The question could have been phrased differently
- 'defeated Harold in the Battle of Hastings', 'won the Battle of
- Hastings' etc. to allow a more correct answer.

- The point is that multiple-choice questions not only involve
- simplification and glossing over difficulties; they encourage
- carelessness in the test-framer or examiner. The student is not
- thereby encouraged to be diligent or accurate.
