- Someone in CDROMLAN-L suggested that I ask you folks about the
- performance of Clipper (a dBASE-compatible compiler) on CD-ROMs. She
- seemed to think that most, if not all, were unhappy with the performance
- of GPO databases. We use Clipper because it's <much> faster than dBASE
- and a person fairly familiar with dBASE should feel quickly at home.

- We've got a database of books that's now large enough that we'd like to
- distribute it on CD. We're pretty happy with the performance on our
- hard disks, but it's gotten to be a pain trying to keep copies in sync
- with the main edition. So we'd like to use it off CD if the performance
- isn't so horrendous that it's better to keep using tape ...

- Thanks!
