- I do not think that there is anything unethical in asking your students
- to buy your book for your class because it does include the essence of
- your thought.
-
- I DO empathize, however, with students' feeling of exploitation because
- their schooling is lining their professor's pockets with royalties over
- and above the amount the professor gets paid for teaching the class.
-
- I have written two books on MS Works (one for Mac and One for IBM) that
- are recommended reading for my class in Educational Media. I have decided
- to compute the amount of royalties I earn here at our university from the
- sale of my books and donate them to a scholarship fund. My books are selling
- elsewhere and those sales are based upon the merit of the book, not upon
- my teaching the class where they are being used.
-
- What do you think?
