  21. In an e-mail message to follow, I am sending you an announcement
  22. for a post-doctoral position working we me on an NSF-funded project
  23. on the impact of computer networking in an urban school system.
  24. This project is being conducted jointly by individuals at the
  25. University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, The
  26. Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center, and the Pittsburgh Public Schools.
  27. I would greatly appreciate your looking at the announcement
  28. carefully and calling it to the attention of anyone you think
  29. would be a strong candidate for the position. Prior work related
  30. to the impact of technology on educational processes is not as
  31. important a selection criterion as overall research capabilities
  32. which would allow the individual to function as a true colleague
  33. (e.g., very strong conceptual and analytic skills; broad
  34. training in research methodology, including questionnaire design,
  35. and interviewing skills; writing skills, etc.). We just received
  36. word of funding which starts this month. Thus, ideally,
  37. I would like someone able to start immediately. However,
  38. practically speaking, I realize some delay may be inevitable.  I
  39. would be willing to delay a bit (DEFINITELY not past June 1) if
  40. it were absolutely essential in order to recruit a truly
  41. outstanding person for this position.
