  21. In the charge out mode, the NOTIS program allows you to scan a
  22. patron's barcode in the ITEM field.  This triggers the program to
  23. "rollover" to the new patron without pressing whatever function key
  24. you have assigned to start the charge out mode <F7 here>.  This is
  25. intended to be used during high traffic periods as a timesaver.

  27. Here at UTA we feel that this opens the door to just such a situation
  28. as you describe.  We do NOT inform the student workers of this
  29. capability and most staff do not know of it either.  Our procedure is
  30. to completely clear the screen after each patron then re-enter the
  31. charging mode.  This procedure, we feel, lowers the odds of the
  32. situation you describe occuring to almost zero.
