  12. I started out this week installing the software as a stand-alone.  On the
  13. whole I thought that the software installed pretty well but there are
  14. two glaring problems...
  15. First, the thing is just too hideously slow for our low-end ps/2's.  Always
  16. frustrating when a company takes a usable search interface and "upgrades"
  17. it to make it unusable.
  18. The second problem is a bit more pronounced, and apparently few people
  19. have stumbled across it yet.  Having installed it, I asked another
  20. librarian for a search topic to test it out.  Their suggestion was
  21. "family owned businesses".
  22. (Note: I had set the options to include plurals and variants.)
  23. I ran the search as "family owned business" - a search which returned
  24. @311 on the last update of ABI/Inform.  The new version returned 49!
  25. I little tinkering revealed that you found another 295 records if you
  26. searched using "family owned businesses".  A couple of other searches
  27. seemed to confirm that UMI has forgotten to tell the software about
  28. plurals that use "es"....<sigh>
