  11. Today is my anniversary! I've been on ALLMUSIC for a whole year now.
  12. Wow! :-o. What a coincidence too. Tomorrow is my last day of work for
  13. this company. This will be my last posting from this address. Geez, I
  14. feel kinda sad. Geez2, am I now officially an old-timer?

  16. This list has changed so much since then. IMO, it has gotten much better.

  18. Story time: ALLMUSIC was more or less the first internet mailing list I
  19. was ever a part of. I remember scanning the list of listserv lists. I saw
  20. several music lists -> Jazz, Classical, etc. and of course ALLMUSIC. I really
  21. wasn't sure what to expect after I subscribed. I can tell you (almost) word
  22. for word what the first posting I saw was. It was something like:

  26. I was like "hey, 2 bands I've heard of, this list might be good for me"

  28. Of course, I just had to get involved *right away*, so I came back with
  29. an equally stupid:

  31. Whadda ya mean GNR bites? NIRVANA BITES!! I can't even understand the
  32. words to that song: "Smells Like Teen Spirit"
  33. It's not even music.

  37. Not that I was any big GNR fan, I just didn't care much for Nirvana,
  38. especially that song. Anyone remember this post? I'm sure Derek Tiffany
  39. would, but he's not on the list right now.

  41. What happened *after* the post of mine was truly incredible -> Atleast
  42. 75 messages (I'm not exaggerating) from many, many people about Nirvana,
  43. lyrics, why people liked being able to understand the lyrics of songs,
  44. why some people didn't care about lyrics at all, etc. etc. etc.

  46. 75 messages!! Needless to say I was (*fucking*) amazed. This blew me away.
  47. I mean, my little teenie weenie spew caused all that. I learned real quick of
  48. the power of this list.

  50. Well, that's my point -> the power of this list. I don't know how to put into
  51. words what this list has done for my music hobby. I look back at me on
  52. this list a year ago. Really, I had no clue. At first I was a little cocky
  53. and talked *way* to much. I tried to start atleast a thread a day. Some of
  54. them kinda dumb. I got flamed really bad once (hehe! chuckrateeze remembers)
  55. after trying to start a dumb thread.

  57. What?, oh yeah, the power of this list, sorry for the digression....
  58. You all have turned me on to *so* much music, that if not for this list, I
  59. would have never known it existed. Before I signed on, I had my Metal and
  60. Hard Rock, of course, a little interest in New Age and Reggae, and a few
  61. other things here and there. You all have helped me out with these genres
  62. all well as many others, *even* metal. I guess what I'm trying to say is
  63. THANK YOU!! All of you. My wallet probably hates you. My list is huge now.
  64. I swear, I got atleast 30 CDs on my list right now, and it's growing.
  65. It really never occured to me that there could be so much *good* music out
  66. there.........until I signed on this list.
