  34. Sorry if this sounds obvious but stranger things have happened :-).
  35. Are you sure you have a bootable installation tape and not a PTF tape?
  36. After your step #9 time the system should boot off the tape. Step #10
  37. sounds like the tape boot did not work and you were dumped to the
  38. maintenance menu.

  40. I could also hypothesize that you have AIX pre-installed. Have you just
  41. put the key in normal and tried to boot?
