  21. Good point.  This was discussed in the Chronicle's review.
  22. Which, BTW, was a remarkable pan.  It was authored by their
  23. food editor, rather than one of their critics, was based
  24. on many visits to the restaruant, and came down on them
  25. for everything from "abyssmal" salads to mis-stored wine to
  26. "untrained" waitstaff.

  28. I would say the Chron did a once-per-decade, total complete hosing.
  29. To rub salt in the wound, they had a glowing article about
  30. Spenger's (right next to 4th St.) on the same page!!!

  32. (But it's true if you order correctly, you're better off
  33. at Spenger's.  Try their scallop sandwich.   Yum!!!

  36. So apparently, boring as it was before the change in owners,
  37. the 4th St. is really pretty crummy now.  Even though 
  38. I'm sure they're terrible it is almost hard to
  39. believe they're quite as completely awful as the Chron
  40. says.  Certainly, no restaturant deserves to get
  41. dumped on more after going downhill than 4th street,
  42. since they always were way overrated and undeservedly
  43. popular, even when they were okay.  Way to go, Chron!!
