  28. I was speaking to one of the Polygram publicists yesterday, and he is
  29. delighted about what's happening in radio. Basically while FOX's sister
  30. station in Sydney have made a move towards pop/dance, FOX themselves have
  31. decided on a bogan rock format, 24 hours a day. There have been rumours
  32. that songs have been being rejected from the Top 8 at 8 for being "not
  33. within the format", which pretty much defeats the purpose of the whoile
  34. thing, but anyway... what this person was saying was that he doesn't mind
  35. so much about the format change - which makes just about every radio
  36. station in Melbourne into a classicrockboganhitsthongsandesky station -
  37. because most of the product from his company fits the format. On the other
  38. hand, Polydor across the hallway find themselves with a swag of dance stuff
  39. to promote, and no radio station will touch it. It's quite likely that, had
  40. the Utah Saints' "Something Good" come out now, you'd never even have
  41. gotten to hear it.

  43. And with JJJ gone bananas for the summer - and HOPEFULLY coming back -
  44. there's little to do for new music but to go and visit some indie
  45. nightclubs...

  50. Thing is, frightening though it may be, there are STILL people out there
  51. who actually get excited when they hear Hotel California, or Farnsey's
  52. version of "Help". If there's one thing that I AM surprised about, it's
  53. that MMM seem to have put the new Jesus Jones single on high rotation,
  54. while JJJ aren't even playing it...
