  30. My dictionary lists the following pronunciations for "finance":
  31. /f@ 'n&n(t)s/, /'faI n&n(t)s/, and /faI 'n&n(t)s/.  The most common
  32. American pronunciation (which I use) is the second, generally without
  33. the /t/.  I was under the impression that the British tend to use the
  34. first.  /fei nans/ (or, more probably, /feI n&ns/) would have the
  35. first syllable rhyme with "May" and "They".
  36.
