- Even though I've been trying to surf for over a year now,
- I still completely suck at paddling out. Once out there,
- it is totally easy for me to snag a mild wave and leisurely pitch
- and yaw my way in front of the curling wave. Just the way I like it.
-
- But what is the secret to paddling out? I often get completely
- pulverized trying to go out in what I think is a mild set of waves.
- I'm not a complete weenie when it comes to swimming, but you might
- think that from watching me. I hear of these places where waves are
- breaking 1/2 mile offshore. To me this seems completely absurd.
-
- The reverse could also be a problem. Has anyone ever heard of
- someone getting stuck outside with a powerful wind blowing them
- out to sea? That would really suck.
