- I made an inquiry a while back, about a good heirloom
- *handsewing* book (as opposed to handsewing by machine). I
- got this reply from Marina Sallume, but she can't post here, and
- asked if I would post to the group.
-
- So here is her recommendation:
- ----------
- On Alt.sewing, you asked about a good book for French
- hand sewing. I love "Stunning Stitches" by Primrose Sully
- (great name). It was published in Australia and is about $30.
-
- It includes her original patterns for embroidery with
- silk ribbons, etc. She has arranged the projects to start with
- the simpler ones and get more complex, so you can use it as
- an embroidery course. The projects are: sachet, shoe bag,
- baby's nightgown, crib blanket, lily of the valley pillowcase,
- detachable collars for blouses, half slip and "knickers",
- bed jacket, coat hanger, door stop, camisole, pillows,
- bridge cloth, sweaters, woman's nightgown, beaded ornament.
- The illustrations and photos are gorgeous! She prefers to
- do everything by hand altho some of the items could be done
- partially on the sewing machine.

- Here's the publisher info:
-
- Published by Primrose Sully, 6 Burgoyne Avenue, Gordon,
- New South Wales, Australia. Pub in 1990. ISBN 0646005189
