- In the US, you pay $12-$16.00 for a CD depending on where you buy your discs.
- In Japan, they cost at least $20, and double albums go up to $40 or so. If
- you're going to sell a disc for $25 or so, you might as well tack on a few
- bonus songs to keep people buying domestically.
-
- That's how I see it. Plus, I find that Japan has more loyal fans. Look at
- this...Metallica gets shit from this usergroup because of the latest album.
- It's only one album, and everyone screams sellout. In Japan, during Tygers Of
- Pan Tang's day, WILD CAT was huge, SPELLBOUND and CRAZY NIGHTS were huge, all
- of the sudden THE CAGE came out, everyone else writes them off as a sellout
- band, in Japan they're still pretty popular, album after album the Def Leppard
- Syndrome gets even worse for them, and all around the world the Tygers are
- now long forgotten, but say the name in Japan and I'm sure at least half the
- headbangers there know who you're talking about. The ones I met knew who they
- were.
-
- Praying Mantis I believe also was scratched off play lists after the "Turn The
- Tables" EP (for being too wimpy after the pretty heavy "Cheated" double 7")
- but in Japan, when Di'anno, Stratton, Bisland, and brothers Troy reformed
- Praying Mantis, everyone in the crowd (look at the album sleeve - there's a lot
- of people in front of that stage) still remembered who they were, knew TIME
- TELLS NO LIES and the "Cheated" dbl-single, etc. It's no wonder Praying Mantis
- now only releases albums in Japan and not anywhere else since no one else
- seems to remember who they are.
