- If that's all you wanted to do with them, sure.
- But if you already owned a couple for the many other
- possible applications (that no sampler can do easily),
- well *why* *not* try and get the most out of them?

- I thought the 808 was the bright one ala Blue Monday/the Beach. Perhaps
- I was wrong! Whatever. I still like bright kickdrums...dull ones too.

-
- Mirage DSK with special input filter (up to 50KHz sampling rate) and
- random-stereo modification. I use it mostly for low-rate sampling (~6KHz)!
- It has a nice sound when you overdrive the input too.
- I told you I like noise. :)
-
- When I want realistic sampling I use my MAC!
- Sure this might not be the typical sampling setup, but I never claimed to
- be like anybody else. I use more synths than samples (not counting
- percussion). But I don't ever want to take an all-or-nothing approach
- when it comes to midi/sampling/live playing/tape/etc.

-
- They are nice, but not nearly as complex as I'd like. I have experience
- with the 2600, some PAIA modules, and so forth. I was in a band with
- someone who had a 101 and I used to re-program it between songs--sometimes
- I'd be on the opposite side of the keyboard, in near darkness and not
- wearing my glasses! :) I'd like something with about 5-8 times more knobs
- and switches, and patchcords are a must!

-
- Hmmm....interesting. I need a unit to sample and hold.
- BTW someone mentioned that Kenton Electronics in the UK makes an imitation
- midi 303 with full midi implemetation & rack mountable for around $300.
