- Correct, and a good example of what I mean.

- : well, why not use it?
- If I had one I probably would use it. FOR SEQUENCING! NOT SAMPLING.

- : Then you'll miss all those nifty upper partials, dude! :)
- : I like kicks with some *bite*! :-[
- I said an *808 Kick* There are very few if any upper partials.
- : Hey, I sample stuff at loooow sampling rates to get a grungy sound.
- : I'll run stuff through guitar amps, fuzz boxes, micro-cassettes...
- : So sue me. I like noise! Listen to "The difference between noise and music"

- Hmmm, true but alot of noise is just noise and is liked because it is noise.

- :
- : I work with a friend and between us, we too have an Ensoniq sampler and
- : a Kawai XD-5 and Km-5, Oberheim DX, Yamaha FB-01, Casio CZ-101 and MT240,
- : Sequential Multitrak, Mackie 1202, a couple effects processors & numerous
- : other toys, not to mention a Mac, PC, and assorted tape decks. We record
- : in either the bedroom or livingroom depending on who's apartment we're at.:)
- Not bad. Asside from my mentioned stuff I have a Kawai K3 Analog with
- MIDI, a DX100 which I sample for really distorted tones. A Roland SH-101
- which I use for some sounds and fool with live. I could get a MIDI to CV
- converter to sequence stuff with the 101 but I would rather twiddle with
- it live. It adds an air of unpredictability.
- BTW: Which Ensoniq sampler do you have? The EPS, the 16+, the Mirage or ASR10?
-
- : I wish I had some *really* old synth gear like the Arp 2600. I'd sample it,
- : play it live (twiddling knobs & switches), and hook it up to midi.
- Try and get a Roland 101, they are usually cheap, (under $200).
-
- : No rules.

- : Yeah but does it generate random basslines when you take the batteries
- : out? :)
- The Kawai K3 has a random LFO that will do just that. (It doesn't take
- batteies though). The Kawai K3 is the best 303 emulater I have found to date.
- Now watch the price soar through the roof.
