  13. A while back I posted a question about the possibility
  14. of a local FM broadcast station causing desensitization
  15. of a Pro-2006 scanner following the installation of a 
  16. Diamond discone roof top antenna.    Several replies
  17. confirmed my suspicions based on the evidence of reception
  18. IMPROVING when a 10dB attenuator was placed in the 
  19. antenna feed.    I have since installed the Grove Scanner
  20. Filter which is a passive device that notches out 
  21. several bands including <30Mhz, FM broadcast and TV
  22. broadcast.    For those who requested I post the 
  23. results of using the filter, I am pleased to report 
  24. that the "desense" problem went away instantly.  I was
  25. however, somewhat disappointed with the filter from Grove:
  26.  
  27.   1. the backside of the one-page instructions was
  28.      so poorly photocopied, it was illegible
  29.   2. the connector at one end of the filter had 
  30.      become unsoldered and had to be fixed
  31.   3. the instructions for adjusting the adjustable
  32.      notch filter were not clear and the diagram
  33.      did not match the circuit board layout
  34.  
  35. Grove have served me well twice in the past and I 
  36. hope this is not a trend.
