- Yet similar studies performed with primates have not yielded such
- results. Rats != humans. Also the amounts given to the rats were far
- in excess of what humans would take. Something like 5 times the normal dose
- given every 2 hours for 48 hours.
-
- Also with millions of X users over the past 10 or more years, there has
- not been one recorded or mentioned case of human brain damage. You
- might think that if it was so dangerous, there might be at least 1 example.
-
- I remember a similar study was done with marijuana back in the 70's
- with chimps that showed that pot caused brain damage -- amazing how many
- people still believe that study. Anyway, the way the study was performed,
- was they gave the equivalent of 70 joints of marijuana to the chimps
- with a mask strapped on their face for a period of 5 minutes -- no
- oxygen. Brain damage occurs in 4 minutes in an absence of oxygen. They
- repeated the experiment every day for about 2-3 months. After that time,
- they noticed that the chimps began evidencing signs of brain damage.
- After the way the experiment was performed became public (under the FOI act) --
- it had been kept secret before that, the study was no longer used as
- a justification for the claim of brain damange. Unfortunately, like alot
- of government disinformation campaigns -- they just start it, then
- allow the sheep-like masses to propagate the misinformation.
-
- There are similar studies with LSD -- that got alot of press on
- negative effects, but later debunking of those studies was given no press.
