- I have noticed that there are a lot of "little" changes in Lucid Emacs from
- version 18, changes that will surprise (if not annoy) many users. Some of
- these are new key definitions (like M-o), some may be replaced key
- definitions, and some are slight changes to effects of functions (and thus
- their keys) such as next-line/C-n.
-
- For instance, I'm still trying to get used to what C-o does if fill-prefix
- is not the empty string. Of course, I probably like most of the little
- changes, although I'm sure I have not discovered most of them.
-
- The problem is that there doesn't seem to be a list of these changes, so
- there is no way for a system administrator to warn users of things to look
- out for (or take advantage of) when suggesting that they change from
- version 18 to Lucid version 19. Of course, there is documentation for many
- major new facilities, but these little mods (many probably being favorites
- of Jamie's, and most probably being good things) aren't always documented.
-
- If Jamie doesn't have time to record these changes, that leaves it to
- others to discover and maybe document them. Perhaps someone has already
- done some of that documenting?
-
- One question is: Are there lots and lots of these things or only a few. My
- guess is that there are only a moderate number of added/replaced keys but
- probably a number of slight changes to functions. (I'm not talking about
- invisible function changes but those that are noticeable to a normal user.)
