- Oh yeah! It was great. Wasn't it something like "Hey kid! What th'
- HELL are you doing down here with my daughter?!" >DRILL DRILL!<
-
- Me and a friend were just discussing how movies get edited in order to
- make the rating they want, ruining the director's vision of the film.
- We got to talking about movies that were released with an X rating. If
- you remember, EVIL DEAD 2 was like that. They carded at theaters around
- here, and NOBODY under 17 was allowed in, period. With an R rating your
- mom can take you to see it, though nobody really checks anyway. But
- with EVIL DEAD 2 they did -- and RE-ANIMATOR too, I think.
-
- I brought up that another one of those movies was THE GATES OF HELL. I
- even remember the TV commercials they did for it. It was just a black
- screen with white characters that scrolled up saying something like "The
- Gates of Hell is the most terrifying experience ever to come to the
- silver screen." (Or something like that.) "It is so shocking that we
- cannot show a single scene from this film in this commercial. No one
- under 17 will be admitted. Be prepared for the most horrifying
- experience of your life." I don't remember what was actually said, but
- it was along those lines. Does anyone else remember this?? That was
- the WHOLE COMMERCIAL, just this text scrolling. It really made me wanna
- see it though, even though I was only like 15 at the time, I think,
- maybe younger.
