- Just a quick addition to Doug's excellent list. "The Radio Amateur's
- Handbook" from the mid-60's has a fair amount of tube information and
- also has a lot of general electronics information and even construction
- techniques. It makes a great reference, especially for someone who has
- not had much (or any) experience building tube-based electronics.
-
- Same sources as Doug listed. Also watch for Ham-fests (swap meets for
- radio operators.)
-
- The Handbook is published every year, so newer ones won't have the same
- information as older ones. Since tubes have almost vanished (except for
- finals in high-power transmitters), newer Handbooks have less information
- that would apply to tubes. Look near the back; if it's got tube basing
- diagrams, you're in luck. Still a useful book, though. Usually cheap,
- too.
