  21. True, but the correct argument to demonstrate that whites as a class benefit
  22. (in some ways) from racism is that by oppressing certain other groups, members
  23. of those groups are offered less access to economic resources, which in turn
  24. maintains a larger majority of the economic pie available to be divided up
  25. among whites as a class.

  27. I put in the note (in some ways) above because I believe that in the long
  28. run, we all lose from racism, if we believe in the capitalist tenet that
  29. given the opportunity, people will flourish and create a whole that is
  30. bigger for everyone.
