- I read an interesting article in the New York Times about five months ago, maybe less. The
- author was trying to figure out who Bertie's parents were. He has some interesting guesses:

- His mother must have been some kind of high-soceity person. Perhaps even royalty. She took a
- fancy to a commener, and had a child by him. She is either dead or pretending she never had
- a child. She set Bertie up with a substantial wad, and left him with an aunt.

- The father? Jeeves, of course. Omni-present, omnicient, and certanily the guiding responsibility
- of Bertie's life...

- Well, it's different, anyhow. I'm not sure I buy it, but it's an interesting idea.
