- Well, the DLG contradicts the books in places, as well... And the sizes
- given for dragons are just ridiculous - can you imagine singlehandedly
- washing a Lockheed 10-11? Or riding on (not in <g>) one?
-
- How on earth (or Pern) do you get a basically immortal creature, as
- firelizards are supposed to be, evolving in the first place? Sorry,
- they may have a *long* lifespan (barring accidents) - say 1000 years -
- but I do *not* believe that they do not get old.
-
- Well, of course one pair of any species could repopulate a world, as
- long as their generation length is a fraction of the expected lifespan
- (as is the case with most Terran animals). Apart, of course, from the
- lack of genetic variety, which would cause severe problems with the
- inbreeding. The firelizards have pretty good genetic structure by now,
- of course, since the species *does* have quite drastic inbreeding.

-
- Thread is only a danger during the Passes - i.e. 20% of the time. And
- judging by the ones we see in the books, firelizards are only really
- likely to be hit by Thread if they are protecting someone (or they hatch
- in the middle of a Fall, like Menolly's ones). At other times, they can
- just go *between* to somewhere Thread isn't falling at the moment.
