- Don't sweat it too much. Like you pointed out, it is only a promotional
- gimmick. People who have bought the first two books will continue to buy
- the last one, and new readers get to know about this "wonderful, best-
- selling author" who has finished another series.
-
- However, printing the author and title stuff in the raised, embossed style
- costs money, and paperbacks do not generate enough revenue to make up the
- cost. So, it is only done for the first printing (or first couple). Then,
- the cover should revert back to one like the previous two books (with a
- full picture, yah!).
-
- I, too, hate this promotional edition. That's why I'm waiting for a later
- one before I buy it. (BTW, this has happened for some other books before.
- The exact book escapes me, but they all became "normal" in succeeding
- editions.)
