- Actually that's not quite right, traffic is supposed to stop when there
- is someone waiting to cross, however, many motorists choose to ignore
- this. In France the above is true, at least it might not be in law
- but the traffic certainly doesn't stop until you run out in front of
- it. Englishmen can be seen waiting for hours by a French roadside
- wondering why the traffic doesn't stop.

- stop! I'm sure I've also seen uncoloured signs on some really old crossings.

- Depending on the size of junction there can be quite a long delay
- between red in one direction and red/amber in the other. ie. both
- on red for a while to allow traffic to clear the junction.
