- The book "The Difference Engine" is great! I just finished reading it.
- I would recinnend recommend it highly. If Babbage had built his difference
- engine someone would have come up with vacuum tubes or transistors very
- quickly because the big clunky thing would take up too much space and
- require too much energy to operate. There would be a lot of necessity for
- the mother of invention, and our current level of computer technology would
- be many years ahead of what it is now. But if you want to talk "what if",
- what if the Japanese won world war II? Read "The Man In the High Castle"
- by PK DICK if you like alternate history sci fi.
