- Th difference engine *was* built back then, by a father and his son,
- at the time only 14 of age. Based on the same mathematical principles
- as Babbage's machine they succeded in making it work about 10 year
- after Babbage gave up for a small sum of money, compared to what
- Babbage and the UK parliament invested in Babbage's machine.

- The inventor's name was Scheutz and his son managed to put the thing
- together and make it work. It was produced in a small scale but was
- never a commercial hit. So you should look into economic or social
- reasons to see why the difference engine wasn't used more than it was
- rather than technical.
