  11. NZ director Peter Jackson's fantastic zombie movie Braindead ("A love
  12. story with GUTS!") has had a few mentions in this newsgroup, so I have
  13. decided to post this article to help overseas fan catch this brilliant
  14. movie.

  18. NZ FILM WINS IN FRANCE

  20.   Peter Jackson's splat-stick film Braindead has continued its winning
  21. way, receiving the Grand Prix Award at the Avoriaz Film Festival in
  22. France.
  23.   The Avoriaz Film Festival was established in 1973, and previous Grand
  24. Prix winners include Carrie, Elephant Man, Mad Max II, The Terminator,
  25. and Blue Velvet.
  26.   Braindead also won the critics' prize and the special effects prize.
  27. The film is to be released in French cinemas on Wednesday and has sold
  28. to 27 other countries.
  29.   The Avoriaz special effects prize is the third award for its special
  30. effects director Richard Taylor, following those at the Rome and Sitges
  31. festivals. The film has also received best film, best director and best
  32. music awards at the Montreal Film Festival, and a best actor award for
  33. Tim Balme at the Rome festival.
  34.   Braindead is soon to open in America, retitled Dead Alive.
