  27. 1) I tend to think that to the extent that there are "banking mafia's"
  28.   the multicultural mafia's tend to be more important than the ethnic
  29.   mafia's.

  31. 2) This does not mean that ethnic Mafia's do not exist. The Meyer Lansky
  32.    organization is an example of an organization that served as a
  33.    bridge between ethnic mafia's. (Meyer Lansky was Lucky Luciano's banker
  34.    and at one time one of the ten wealthiest men in America. He probably
  35.    lived up to the negative stereotype of a criminal Jewish banker
  36.    better than any man about which solid information exists. )

  38. 3) Just as Mr. Lansky steadfastly claimed to be "a poor man living on a
  39.    pension(and Mr. Frank denies the existance of any Jewish equivalent
  40.    to the Sicilian Mafia) Mr. Gritz tends to endow such an organization
  41.    with supernatural powers.

  45. The bigger problem as I see it, is that it is so difficult to discuss 
  46. this whole issue and look at it critically. I tend to think that the 
  47. truth probably lies in between Mr. Frank and Mr. Gritz and that 
  48. _both_ are engaging in ethnic posturing on this issue.

  53.   world of international business and finance?

  58. I tend to agree with this statement. BCCI, was in many respects an
  59. example of an ethnic mafia(in this case an Arab one) that used etnic
  60. cohesion to bilk people outside their own ethnic group.
